Josef remembered playing with some of the children in The Fireflies. He also may have remembered seeing the show in performance when something bad happened and “we had to leave quickly” from the theatre. It is possible that he was attending a performance when the first survivors from death camps arrived. Other survivors recall the show literally stopping mid-performance when the emaciated survivors from death camps arrived.

Josef was born in Česká Třebová in January 1936. He also had a brother in the ghetto.
